Dining Review: Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Kona Cafe at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is one of my favourite moderately-priced eateries within the Walt Disney World Resort. Today I'm going to talk about my experience at dinner-time.
You'll find the casual-style eatery located on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House; which has recently undergone a major transformation. I must say I really like the lighting feature in the lobby area.
With a warming atmosphere and vibrant decor, Kona Cafe features comfy seating options for couples, families and large groups.
As soon as you've checked in and have settled down at your table; one of the ever-so-friendly servers will come and welcome you and fetch you something to quench your thirst. The Cast Members really embraced the Polynesian culture and made me aware of Ohana as of course, that means family. It's also an incredibly popular all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant located next door.
The dinner menu itself features a variety of dishes ranging from fifteen types of Sushi from the on-stage bar, to oven-roasted Taal chicken and Kona Coffee-rubbed pork chop. There is simply something for all.
Once you've ordered; your server will bring you a plate of incredibly moreish Sweet Pineapple Bread. Served warm with some Macadamia-Honey Butter, it is so good; I could probably just eat it over and over again.
For my meal: I decided to go for the Pan-Asian Noodles; which is a choice of Wok-seared Chicken or Tofu in a Ginger-Garlic Sauce that's intertwined through Yakisoba Noodles and vegetables. Simply delicious.
For the perfect sweet ending, there were a variety of tempting options including a Banana-chocolate creme brûlée, Jasmine tea-infused cheesecake and a warm apple tart. Delicious.
Unfortunately I did not feel like a dessert, but I'd quite happily class the Pineapple Sweet Bread as a pre and post-main treat!
Overall
Overall, I was very impressed with my dinner experience at Kona Cafe. It's a casual table-service restaurant within Walt Disney World that serves up good quality food at a reasonable price. Now I'd better go and find that Pineapple Bread Recipe. (Stay tuned for a new post real soon!)
