A look back on 2017

They say as you get older time seems to go faster. I can honestly say this is true. It feels like only a short time ago I was writing about welcoming the New Year and now we are here again.

2017 has been a year of change and challenge for most of us. The aviation world saw the loss of Air Berlin and Monarch, a few technical issues but also a number of new and exciting investments and announcements along the way. The Caribbean region had been subject to some devastating storms over what was described as one of the most horrific Hurricane Seasons of late; but I’m pleased to see it hasn’t kept the tourists away who are keen to continue visiting and help contribute to rebuilding the individual culture of each island.

For me the year brought the opportunity to visit San Francisco for the very first time which was simply breathtaking. My parents had visited the city thirty plus years ago, so it had always been something on my bucket list. I also got to return to Disneyland Paris and experience everything that was new for their 25th Anniversary Celebrations; something which will continue well into 2018.

So what will 2018 hold? There are quite a few destinations I’d like to explore for the first time and others return to, but only time will tell. What are your plans for the new year?

I came across an inspirational quote which I really think summarises most of our thoughts on travel.

a beach with water and clouds

Wishing one and all a very Happy New Year.

JSB.
