Disneyland Paris’ 25th Anniversary: What not to miss

Disneyland Paris’ 25th Anniversary celebrations kicked off earlier this year and I recently got to visit the resort to experience some of the magic for myself. Today I thought I would share with you a couple of the new experiences you won’t want to miss.

Star Tours: L’Aventure Continue

The “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue” upgrade to the classic Star Tours attractions at Disney’s theme parks in Florida and California alone has been a huge hit; where guests now have the opportunity to embark on missions to destinations including Jakku, Tatooine and the Death Star. So much so, the Star Tours attraction inside Disneyland Park has also been upgraded. Featuring randomised missions, Star Tours: L’Aventure Continue is something which can be enjoyed time and time again. If only I could see BB-8…

Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain
Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris is the only version of the beloved attraction which features upside-down movements and a pretty exhilarating launch sequence so I hear. I’m too scared to ride it for myself. From the classic Space Mountain De la Terre a la Lune (From the Earth to the Moon) to Space Mountain: Mission 2; the attraction has only undergone one major change in it’s history. If you have always wanted to join the Rebel Alliance, Disneyland Park’s iconic attraction will be upgraded to blast guests into Hyperspace – just like it’s cousin in California. Hyperspace Mountain in the mild but still pretty wild version in Anaheim is a lot of fun, so I can only imagine what it is like going upside down.

Disney Stars on Parade
Hey there, Hi there, Ho there! I certainly love a Disney parade. In celebration of Disneyland Paris’ Silver anniversary, a brand new parade dazzles it’s way through Disneyland Park. Disney Stars on Parade features it’s own gigantic Steampunk “Maleficent” Dragon and many other spectacular floats with all your favourite Disney characters. Of course there is a rather catchy soundtrack too, because everyday is a celebration… right?

PC: Ben Montgomery (Taken during my 2015 trip to Walt Disney World)

I took this photo in May 2015 during a trip to Walt Disney World as they have the same dragon in their “Festival of Fantasy” parade. It was quite hard to get a good photo at Disneyland Paris on a very busy Main Street!

Mickey presents “Happy Anniversary Disneyland Paris”
Everyone’s favourite Mickey Mouse is the star of a new daily show where he enlists as many of his fellow characters as possible to help put on a huge anniversary party. During my recent visit to Disneyland Paris the show took place four times throughout the day. It’s short but is cute and is a great little Happy Birthday celebration.

The Starlit Princess Waltz
I was really happy to learn that the Royal Castle Stage next to Le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant has been restored to it’s former glory and takes centre stage in an exclusive show with the Disney Princesses. The Starlit Princess Waltz involves a few of our favourite Disney Princes and Princesses.

Disney Illuminations
As nighttime falls, Disneyland Park comes alive with Disney Illuminations. Built upon the success of Disney Dreams!, the new nighttime spectacular for the 25th Anniversary combines dazzling lights, projections and breathtaking effects as Mickey Mouse takes guests on a musical journey through the locations of some of your favourite Disney movies. Animated titles include The Little Mermaid and Frozen, whilst motion pictures will feature Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Star Wars and even Pirates of the Caribbean. It is a great show, but part of me will always love Disney Dreams! (which made it’s debut during the 20th Anniversary).

These are just a few things which are ongoing as part of Disneyland Paris’ 25th Anniversary celebrations. Stay tuned for further posts where I’ll be writing about other events going on across the resort as part of the celebration. It really is time to sparkle!
