Coast to Coast, an authentic taste of the USA

I recently enjoyed a meal at Coast to Coast; an American Restaurant and Bar whom currently have 12 restaurants across the country, the nearest to me being at Brighton Marina.

Created by the team behind popular restaurants such as Frankie & Benny's, Chiquito and Garfunkels; Coast to Coast are passionate about delivering good quality food & drink with a smile.

Atmosphere

Located along the Boardwalk; the restaurant is in a prominent position with views overlooking the marina - with plenty of tables outside so you can enjoy the warm sunshine on a summers day.

Inside, you'll find booth-style and traditional seating and walls adorned with US memorabilia - which is well worth a look at.
The background music is classic American Rock and Motown, and isn't too loud - which means you can have a conversation with the person opposite you without having to shout.

My Experience

Reservations

Although it is not necessary to make a reservation; sometimes it is a good idea - especially at weekends or during busy periods. Coast to Coast along with a number of other restaurants allow you to book a table online; which is what I did and found it to be a stress-free experience. You are able to view available time slots for the number of people in your party (must be less than seven to use the service) and enter in any additional notes or requirements that you may have.

Upon Arrival

After parking the car and walking across to the restaurant; I was greeted by the host who checked me in and escorted to my table. I was handed a menu and shortly afterwards, Olivia, my server on this occasion introduced herself and talked me through the menu sharing her personal favourites before taking drinks orders.

Drinks

To quench your thirst, there is an extensive array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, classic American beers and wines, sodas (including Root Beer), and delicious thick-style shakes and ice cream floats.

Eats

Being an authentic taste of America; you can expect to enjoy traditional American fare such as burgers and hot dogs, to sizzling fajitas, tasty pastas, deep dish pizzas, and those famous club sandwiches. Accompaniments include mac 'n' jack, onion rings, homemade slaw, and sweet potato fries - which are my favourite!

To start, I ordered the homemade sea salted pretzels; which were served with a garlic dip. The four mid-sized pretzels were brought to my table fresh from the kitchen and tasted divine. It was certainly a great way to start the meal - and I think it could be a strong contender in replacing garlic bread!

For the main event, I went with the hot baked honey & mustard turkey wrap; served with sweet potato fries and a pot of slaw.

My wrap contained breaded turkey escalope with shredded iceberg lettuce and red onion. It usually includes cheese and the honey-mustard dressing however I asked if I could lose the dairy and have the dressing on the side - just my preference. It was good to know that they were willing to try and accommodate any dietary requirements or requests.

For a main meal, the portion size was generous and the sweet potato fries were the perfect accompaniment - so much so that I prefer those to regular fries. I'd recommend the wrap; but many of the other dishes caught my eye as they passed by and looked very appetising. You could quite easily visit on multiple occasions and try something completely different each time!

Room for dessert?

Now it goes without saying that America is famous for it's desserts such as a slice of pecan pie, a warm and gooey chocolate brownie. New York cheesecake or a good old sundae. From what I saw, they all looked delicious - however I made the mistake and was full after my main course! But I can assure you that I will be trying a dessert on my next visit... it would be rude not to!

The Verdict

Overall, I had a very enjoyable meal at Coast to Coast down Brighton Marina. I thought that the restaurant offered very good value for money considering the amount of dishes are on offer - there really is so many options to choose from! Next time I will save room for dessert and look forward to getting a taste of the USA right beside the sea here in Brighton real soon.
