The Best Airline Deals Around

Christmas might have been and gone, but we are now in the midst of the wave season.
In travel speak, the time between Christmas and the end of January is where travel businesses see a huge spike in bookings. Blame it on the post-Christmas blues, the bleak month of January or whatever you want; everyone is looking to arrange their holidays for later in 2017 or beyond.

It seems to happen earlier year after year, but many travel organisations began their January sales just before Christmas. From free room upgrades, complimentary dining or car hire; everyone is touting for your business. Today I thought I would share some pretty good airline deals that I’ve stumbled across over the past few days.

  • British Airways
The premium-service carrier launched its “Unforgettable Sale” a couple of days before Christmas and includes a variety of flight-only and package offers to destinations across BA’s network. Grab a return flight to the Big Apple (New York) from £397, Singapore from £499 and Cape Town from £682. Better still, BA are launching a number of new routes in 2017 which includes direct flights from Heathrow to the Big Easy of New Orleans from £543 return. If you’d rather visit the West Coast, you’ll be able to fly from Gatwick from just £380 per person. The “Unforgettable Sale” is scheduled to end on January 31.

  • Virgin Atlantic
If you’ve been looking for that unmistakable cheap flight to Dubai, then Virgin Atlantic might have a good option for you. As part of their Worldwide Sale, you can grab a return flight for just £299pp. Or if you are looking to check out what’s new in the theme-park mecca of Orlando, return flights are from £439. The Virgin Atlantic sale is scheduled to run until February 7.

  • easyJet
For travel until the beginning of February, easyJet are offering up to a whopping 20% off 400,000 seats on flights to and from the UK. Fly from Gatwick to Innsbruck from under £30 each way. Other departure points are available and you’ll need to confirm your flights by January 12.

  • Norwegian
The low-cost carrier is continuing to disrupt the industry as we know it. As part of their New Year Sale, you can grab a one-way direct fare to Europe from £29 and to the USA from £134. You’ll need to be pretty flexible with your dates in order to achieve those fares, but with availability through to the end of October, you should be able to find something. You need to book by January 16.

  • Thomas Cook Airlines
In their long-haul Sale, you can fly with Thomas Cook Airlines to a variety of destinations including Boston, San Francisco, Miami, Cancun and Tobago. What’s better is that until the end of January you can save an additional £50 off from the return price.  For short-haul, you can obtain a one-way flight to the Canary Islands from as little as £25 per person. Crazy right?

Of course there are hundreds if not thousands of offers available, so be sure to take your time and shop around. During the wave season many carriers may or may not offer a price-match promise, but it’s always worth an ask. Please note these offers were valid at the time I published this post and as always, pricing does vary depending on availability and other factors.
