Countdown to D23 Expo 2022
It’s quite hard to believe, but we are almost three weeks away from the return of the Ultimate Disney Fan Event… D23 Expo 2022!
Taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center between September 9 and 11, this will be the first D23 Expo since the Covid-19 pandemic. Attendees can look forward to being immersed in the magical world of Disney, and learn more about the Parks, Experiences and Products, Movies from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel (to name a few), news on the Disney + Streaming service and a whole lot more.
What’s more, 2023 will mark the centenary of The Walt Disney Company, so we can be sure to hear about exciting events and offerings which will help to celebrate this milestone occasion. We’ve also still got the ongoing 50th Anniversary Celebrations at Walt Disney World too! If you cast your minds back to 2001 which would have been Walt Disney’s 100th Birthday, the parks came alive with a host of special offerings.
Speaking of the theme parks, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro will be taking to the stage on the Saturday, for what is probably the most eagerly anticipated presentation of the entire expo. A Boundless Future: Disney Parks Experiences and Products will share a look at new details of highly anticipated projects in development around the world, such as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the replacement for Splash Mountain at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
I’m also particular excited there is an Imagineering panel session how the brand new Disney Wish cruise ship for Disney Cruise Line was designed. She is without a doubt one of the most anticipated cruise ships to set sail in recent years, and the reviews so far have been overwhelmingly positive.
Switching over to the world of movies and animation, we can expect to hear a lot of exciting news and sneak peeks of upcoming titles during the D23 Expo. I still remember the event in 2013 where Idina Menzel took to the stage to sing a song called “Let It Go” from the upcoming move, Frozen. All of us in the audience literally were on the edge of our seats and erupted in applause. I think it’s safe to say the rest was history!
The Anaheim Convention Center is literally opposite the Disneyland Resort, which will have just begun it’s Halloween season. There’s always so much to see and do at the Happiest Place on Earth, and with thousands of Disney fans descending on Anaheim for the D23 Expo, you can be sure that theme park reservations will be snapped up pretty quickly.
If you love shopping, you’ll be pleased to know that new for this year, the D23 Expo will be utilising a Virtual Queue service for the plethora of shopping options available during the event. In previous years guests like me have waited 2-3 hours in a line to visit one of the iconic expo outlets, such as Mickey’s of Glendale, so I’m delighted a virtual queue will be offered. More information can be found on the D23Expo website.
The D23 Expo 2022 is currently sold out, but stay tuned across social media and various news outlets for all the latest news direct from the event!
