Fly from Gatwick to Oakland in the Golden State with British Airways
British Airways have announced a new service from London Gatwick to Oakland International in California.
This is very exciting news for the premium service airline who will now be offering customers a new and exciting destination from the West Sussex airport. This also marks BA’s first service to California from Gatwick – which I am sure will appeal to the masses who look to visit nearby San Francisco (30mins by train) and everything else that the Golden State has to offer. Why not make a fly-drive out of it and cruise down the PCH? I would!
The new direct service will be served by a Boeing 777-200ER and will begin operation four-days a week for the Summer from March 28, 2017 and three-days a week in the Winter. The summer schedule is below:
Flight #: BA2279 (London Gatwick to Oakland International)
Days of operation: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday + Saturday
Departs LGW: 10:20 (11:25 on Tuesday)
Arrives OAK: 13:15 (14:20 on Tuesday)
Flight #: BA2278 (Oakland International to London Gatwick)
Days of operation: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday + Saturday
Departs LGW: 15:05 (16:10 on Tuesday)
Arrives OAK: 09:25 (10:30 on Tuesday)
To celebrate the launch of the service, fares are available from £189 each way based on a return trip in World Traveller (Economy), £448 in World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) and £998 in Club World (Business Class).
What do you think about the introduction of a new service to OAK?
Factoring in that Norwegian currently operate flights to OAK from London Gatwick, I say that a bit of competition never goes amiss. I’m really pleased by this new routing from British Airways and hope to fly on the route myself sometime next year.
