Celebrity Eclipse

Celebrity Eclipse is the third vessel in the five-strong Solstice Class fleet. Launched in 2010; her inaugural sailing was unlike other ships and turned out to rescue thousands of British holidaymakers from Bilbao in Spain who were stranded due to the Volcanic Ash Cloud – which caused havoc for the holiday and airline industries; resulting in a blanket no-flying ban across the majority of Europe for many days.

The ship itself at 122,000 tonnes is huge; not the biggest ship I have been on – but she is certainly very big and offers a good (yet exhausting) workout taking the stairs from Deck 15 all the way to Deck 3! Carrying 2850 guests (based on double occupancy), the Celebrity Eclipse features a vast array of accommodation options ranging from Interior Staterooms to the full-blown Penthouse Suite which is, well how else can I put it… amazing!

The Celebrity Eclipse fully resembles the cruise lines “Modern Luxury” marketing campaign simply because she boasts a modern, yet stylish interior that make you feel like you’re residing in a boutique hotel and not on a ship at all! For all you foodies out there, the Eclipse features not one, but four specialty dining options; one of which is Qsine. There isn’t really an easy way to explain the dining experience other than it is something“Uniquely Unordinary”. Where else can you browse the menu on an iPad or simply shake it to create your very own cocktail? It is a dining option you must experience at least once… or twice in my case.

Entertainment aboard Celebrity Cruises is second to none, from lavish West-End and Broadway Style production shows in the Theatre to dance parties under the stars, live music in the Grand Foyer and comedy at Celebrity Central – you will NEVER get bored.

If you love relaxation, then you’ll be happy to know the AquaSpa by Elemis is rated as one of the best spas on the high seas, featuring massage and treatment rooms, a salon, fitness center  Turkish Baths, steam rooms and a Persian Garden, you will certainly find a way to feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

Now for one of the best bits, The Lawn Club. Picture half an acre of real grass on top of a cruise ship where you can have a game of bowls, croquet or even a picnic on the lawn…. pictured it? Well its a reality on the Eclipse (and other Solstice-class ships too!).

I could ramble on and on about why I LOVE the Celebrity Eclipse, but that wouldn’t be right… and would probably take you a few hours to read. So why don’t you experience the beauty for yourself? 😉 The Celebrity Eclipse will be sailing from Florida to the Caribbean until the end of April before sailing back over to Southampton for another summer of ex-UK cruises to Northern Europe, the Baltic, Canary Islands and the Mediterranean.
