Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration to begin May 22!

This year is shaping up to be a magical one at the Disneyland. On July 17, the original Disney theme park turns 60 and the entire resort will be decked out for the occasion. The Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration will officially kick off on May 22 with a host of new experiences and surely some surprises too!

Shine bright like a diamond…

Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland and Carthay Circle Theatre in Disney California Adventure will glisten both in the sunshine and after dark as they transform into sparkling diamonds in their own right for the celebration.

Each icon will also feature their own diamond medallion.

Not only that, but the entire resort including the surrounding streets in Anaheim will sparkle with decorations and banners in the iconic Disneyland shade of blue.

NEW NIGHTTIME ENTERTAINMENT

So far, Disney have announced not one, nor two, but THREE new after-dark entertainment offerings for the celebration.

“Paint the Night” along the parade route…

Boasting new technology and a very catchy musical score come together to create Disney's "Paint the Night" parade. An all new modern twist on the classic Main Street Electrical parade where several floats and costumes are made up of more than 1.5 million individually controlled LED lights. Expect to see all your favourite Disney characters and spectacular floats including those of Beauty and the Beast, Cars, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story and of course the animated feature that we just can't "Let It Go" - Frozen. Main Street at nighttime is going to be pretty colourful to say the least.

Disneyland fireworks, but not as you know it…

Disneyland is known for it's dazzling fireworks shows, but it looks at though "Disneyland Forever" will take it it a whole new level. Not only will the skies above Disneyland come alive with colour, you'll also be fully immersed in the action owing to projection mapping technology which is set to turn Main Street, U.S.A., the Matterhorn, Rivers of America and "its a small world" into scenes right out of your favourite Disney movies. You could be flying over the streets of London with Peter Pan, then dancing along with King Louie from The Jungle Book - just how cool does that sound?

"Disneyland Forever" will feature two original songs; "Live the Magic" and "Kiss Goodnight: - the latter of which has been written by Disney legend Richard Sherman. I simply cannot wait for this show!

The Wonderful World of Walt Disney….

The iconic and arguably spectacular "World of Color" at Disney California Adventure is set to present an inspirational journey and the story of Disneyland to life through a combination of thousands of colourful dancing fountains, animation, live-action film, special effects and a sensational musical score. "World of Color - Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney" is sure to touch the hearts of many.

There’s more to come…

Walt once said: "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."

That famous quote will remain for a very long time. We can expect to learn a lot more about Disneyland's 60th Anniversary celebrations over the next few months. As usual, the resort will also feature a number of special food and merchandise offerings - more of which I will share with you when the information is made available.

So what do you think of what has been unveiled so far to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the original Disney theme park?
I am extremely excited, and look forward to hopefully experiencing it all in person later in the summer. Speaking of which, if you happened to plan your visit between August 14 and 16; you'll be able to attend the D23 Expo!
